WORK OF THE MONTH - Archive

 silhouettes of the past

there are moments
carved in my thoughts.
When, there was constant laughter
and teasing,
family meals prepared for nine,
taking turns with the dishes and pots

And then,
it seemed to quickly fade,
as each of us went our way.
The hierarchy has since left for the heavens
and now we stand
to represent generations made

With marriage one brings another
sister or brother,
at least that's the way it should be,
curse the ones who stand between us
they share hatred like no other

Where is the closeness and
love we shared before?
Turmoil, selfishness
and differences abound,
how dare we set our cozy memories down
and leave each other at the door

So when the time comes to take our leave
let us not regret
that we let others mingle with our love
for when all is said and done
we shall remember our yearnings
for the silhouettes of the past
