I found you sitting here alone the other day when you weren’t looking. The sun poured in the window like heaven shining down on you. I tried to meet your gaze but a grey-haired lady with a Chihuahua sat down between us. I leaned to the left to get your attention. The dog in her lap yawned and licked his nose. I leaned to the right and the old lady sneezed.
You didn’t notice me. Instead you chuckled at the mimes outside making fun of the crowd. You left before I could say hello or ask your name.
I looked for you today and there you were. I got up the nerve to wave; you stood and gestured. Excited, I jarred my mug, forming coffee stains on the table. Then a beautiful, young woman, smelling like gardenias, swept past me and kissed you.
I shrunk to the size of a coffee bean and fell into in my cappuccino.
