Writers or New Writers tell us a little about their writing...

"i wish i could provide you with some deep meaningful
answer to your questions.
in terms of a new writer,
id have to say yes
because ive only been actually writing
for about 4 years.
also i would be considered new
because im only 20.
its rare for someone to be published
in mass before thirty so until im 30,
ill consider myself new and novice."
Jonathan Dumas
"I am a 21 year old Creative Writing
and English student.
I focus on short stories and lately
I have made a few unsuccessful
attempts to write a novel.
I started out writing poetry and have pages
of pieces I've written in the past.
They do need editing though but at the moment,
I do not have the time for this.
Looking back, it seems
as if it was reading that inspired me to write.
It is as if my love of literature, came
about in my late teens, and propelled me into art.
I am still a developing writer out to find my voice."
Tackela
"Am I a new writer? I write.
What I am not able to explain to you is
whether my writing began through my need to express myself
or my inquisitions from some years past and continued;
or whether the discipline developed through occupation."
Alfreda Darden
"I guess you could call me a new writer,
but I've been writing since I was 10
(I am 22 right now).
'
Becoming' is my first book
(self-published through Rosedog Books)."
Graeme Brown
"I've been writing since I can remember.
However, when I found out that writing
was my gift I was 33 years old.
I am pleasantly happy with the distance my writing has come.
However, I want to be ecstatic about where my writing takes me."
Deon Sanders
"I am a new writer and I discovered myself by
realizing that writing is the only escape from the real world.
I want people to see my awesome stories
and see what I'm made of."
Amber Buttrum
"No I'm not a new writer.
I've been writing poetry for 7 years.
No I don't write part time.
I write just about every other day.
What I like about poetry is that it can be powerful
(the words), it can insprire you, move you,
make you feel good."
Derick Bryant
"I am a primary school teacher,
currently in central Queensland, Australia.
I guess I consider myself a new writer.
I've taken some time off work to concentrate on writing
picture books this year - both writing and illustrating -
though I enjoy writing in a few genres."
Peter Carnavas,
"Yes I do see myself as a new writer.
I have been active for about five years,
in a part time capcity.
Still have to pay bills.
I also have several projects on the go at the moment."
Basil Allen
"Most new writers are in the same boat
except they are not Waiting
and therefore they are getting published.
If we as writers wait till our work reaches our
own sense of perfection before seeking
publication then we would not get read in this lifetime."
wheytoobuff (Keith)
"I used to write seriously 30 years back and then went
on hiatus. But I kept reading. Long plane trips are
conducive to reading.
I don't know whether I have a style at all.
I think most writers are bad critics
or analysts of their own work."
Ashok Niyogi
"I have been writing for about the last 6 years
(I'm 67 years old).
I have written poetry, short stories.
I write on an almost daily basis.
Have never written professionally.
I like to write, to create."
Ted Watkins
"i mostly write about life experiences & observations.
Mostly about my own life or thoughts about people
and certain things.
i feel like i am most intouched with my emotions
whenever i write this way.
indeed, i do believe that people can
harvest a lot of lessons from their own lives."
Carlton Langston
"Well i've been writing since i was young.
It has always been my passion.
But i never really had the chance to use it professionally.
It became a hobby to me,
though i am not really complaining about it.
i just love to write my thoughts and / or ideas down.
That gives me a good feeling and a certain satisfaction."
