| What Are Your Works of The Year? It’s a good time of year for looking back over 12 months and getting the measure of our own works of the year. This may bring a wry smile to some, as you find yourselves clammering for a break from the whirlwind wrought by the calendar. Fear not, this isn’t another of those unbounded chores, this is a momentary life affirming pause; a well earned breather. It never does any harm to ponder for a moment, picking out from the debris of 21st century living what you’d regard as your achievements: Have you started something new? Are you on your way? Have you made it to a crucial milestone? Have you finally completed that thing you’d needed to? I’m not necessarily talking about a ground shaking achievement, facing facts, most everyday 'doing' gets done without great fanfare. I know some people have completed mauscripts, published books, bought work to the stage, finally broken through to mainstream recognition. I know many others have started to write, fixed the idea for their book in their head, decided to go study, realised a threat was actually an opportunity. The significance, the size or scale is all relative but it’s important to acknowledge your achievements; to recognise those precious steps in the right direction. So do think and do tell, what are your works of the year? Ideas on Creative works of 08. © Khome, editor@unheardwords.com, 2008 (all rights reserved) |
