Artistic recall to relaxation 3rd May 2007
| This painting is also by Scherin Barlow Massay (work of the month for May). It reminds me of holidays (I went away to New Milton on the edge of the New Forest over Easter), the coastal walk from Sandcliff, which culminates in a pebble crunching final half mile or so, across a causeway to the lighthouse at Hurst Point. The weather wasn’t blue thankfully, nor was my mood - giving even more thanks for that. It was a time to let emotional baggage go. To let the world of deadlines and headlines drain away, like the all too artificial urgencies they often represent. It was a time to read, if not to write; to think calmly about, in the knowledge that I didn’t have to do anything about. We all need that kinda time and it’s good, when words, an image, some music or a painting can recreate that mood, artistic recall to relaxation. |
