| Why do I love writing ? | 3rd September 2007 |
It arises from my imagination, this thought that I might be able to take a slice of the world and reproduce it, as words, cold on the page. I say 'cold' but that’s not the intention at all. How can I get the words to convey that physical presence, emotional feel, sweet scent, offensive smell of sweat? Blood is on the march around my body, purposeful; and the way that song was sung makes me want to weep. As I set out, soul a hull ready to cast an invisible net, to haul in a catch teaming with vital life. It’s the beauty that glints in the shards of the ultimate possibility; being able to cup in hands, safely bring down, thoughtfully set down the strands comprising a life. It’s the challenge, standing in front of fear that makes the prospect of even attempting the feat, a driver that motivates. Whether resulting in failure or success, I love to write. And now I’ll pose the question. Why do you love to write? |
