This spiritual and emotional poem has been carved from the sand stone of heavier words. I've included the original piece below to show the effect that simply reviewing the poem to remove repetition, and cutting the lines back, has had. Sometimes greater power lies in fewer words - what do you think?
My Waiting
My waiting is patient like the essence of time,
A time that I can discover and explore.
My waiting is like the definition of my souls lonely cry
of what waiting really means,
in my eyes it defines my loyalty and
self-respect that in turn enlightens my soul.
My waiting confuses the world;
it leaves scratches and calloused hearts
that are hardened in my waiting.
My waiting makes me stronger,
and wiser in more ways than any person could ever imagine.
My waiting helps me to discern what is
for my waiting and to all who try to interrupt
my waiting.
My waiting will one day turn into a fulfillment,
a fulfillment of that wholeness that I once longed for.
My waiting will bring two souls together
that He prepared,
the two souls in my waiting for love
and a closer power of His love
for us
in my waiting.
