 My Journey

I came into the world with nothing
and my memory was blank.
I did not know where I was,
but I felt "I'm here"
and there must be someone to thank!

I trusted someone to take care of "me"
and from attack, to keep me safe and free.
There was nothing I could do
but rely on someone to help me,
get through the day;
little did I know
that my life's journey would pay,
in a mixture of feelings each day.

I had no choice but to take in what
I saw, felt and heard
but now when I look back
this all seems so absurd.

If I could turn the clock back,
I would start all over again
to rewrite the love and
rewrite the pain.

I would then take "my" journey
it would not be the same.

I have travelled far on my journey,
but now I realise my destiny I can choose,
what's more to the point
I've nothing to loose.

I live each moment day by day,
in the hope that I will find my way,
to end this journey with a sunshine ray.

Far from being blank and someone to thank,
at least at the end ... ...
I will have something to say ... ...
of significance.

Jennifer says of her poem, and forgive me for paraphrasing somewhat...This describes a personal 'life' journey. Life is like a journey and there is so much love and hate and pain along the way. We may begin with few choices but growth informs us that we can make our own choices. The aim is to let others know that we all have choices, and we may not need to look back with regret or wish to rewrite our lives, if our choices are thought through.
