Essay - Dreams

Mini ESSAY

   DrEaMs

'Are you a dreamer like me?'
Experiencing bliss in your self made self-woven threads of this life and the future?

Then it’s high time you woke up, rubbed your eyes, opened them wide so as to see clear, without obscurity. The fact is, that although these dreams give a lot of exquisite pleasure, when reality strikes with its hammer, chances of going berserk are high. Leaving you to shed your tears in solitude or if infuriated, to make another shed the tears of your frustration. This probably sounds like the advice of a senile man with hair grayed by the sun.

But it gives me immense joy every time I lie down and close my eyes, not to transcend into Alice’s Wonderland, but instead to open the gates of my fantasyland – a place that deals with matters from mists to marriage, Casanovas to careers, and everything in between. Though capacities may differ, dreaming is a desire that most people are blessed with. The greater the capacity, the greater the happiness but the harder you might fall.

Dreams are not an escape from reality or its ruthlessness; they are only a means to visualize how we would love our reality to be. If we cannot shape reality to our dreams, why not tailor-make dreams to match our perceptions. For most people the reflective part begins when they wake up and realize how distant their dreams are from the reality. For me, the realization is sooner still, as I dream with my eyes open.

Why shouldn’t one dream to their heart’s and mind’s contentment? There are just two things that the world does not bother us with; dreams and laughter. The latter has declining popularity as human intolerance growth but the former is definitely a marionette of the mind.

'The breeze is soft, the beach is calm;
The sand is golden, the sun is mild;
The music is soft, a glass of wine;
And to glace it all, a damsel / knight of Divine
'         ..Now that’s a dream!

So, the bottom line is that Dreams are an eternal source of pure pleasure and unrestricted retreat. Dreams are your brainchild, so let them loose. Nurture them with care; douse them with dedication, work hard on them and watch their magic run into your reality, to create revelry of life.
